30 Years of Experience

I’ve been a designer and illustrator for 30 years. When we work together I will bring a diverse set of skills and professional experience to help you visually communicate your ideas.

Hobbies

I certainly have too many of these, but the skills gained can, and have, woven themselves into my professional projects.

Apart from drawing, my longest running hobby has been scale modeling. After a long hiatus for most of the 1990’s and early 2000’s, I picked it up again and was shocked at how much it had grown since I’d last put glue to plastic. I think I’ve gotten pretty good at it too; it’s a hobby that scratches my history and creative itches at the same time. Some of my work can be seen here on Scalemates. Modeling got me into 3D printing as well where I can design and sculpt my own bits in Blender and, for some, sell them on Cults3D. I almost exclusively build 1/35 scale armor and figures with the occasional Star Wars subject thrown in from time to time. An extension of this has been a bit of cosplay prop creation for my son. I’ve been toying with the idea of building commissioned scale modeling pieces soon. If you’re interested let me know.

I’ve built some outdoor furniture, fixed lots of things, and gotten fairly good at coping a miter (doing it right is the secret way to make it look like you cut perfect 45 degree angles in molding when you didn’t). Owning old homes and being frugal made learning some DIY skills a necessity.

I’ll be using the blog on this site to detail many of my projects, ideas, and forays into the unknown. Check it out and comment; I’d love to connect with more people interested in what I’m up to.
